The INWELL Micro-Credential Framework

Developing a micro-credential methodological framework at the service of sustainable higher education Linking inclusion, well being and affect

INWELL is a pedagogical–methodological framework for micro-credentials in sustainable higher education. It integrates three pillars—Inclusion, Well-being, and Affect (relationality)—to guide inclusive, emotionally engaged learning. Drawing on the CIVIS alliance’s interdisciplinary and cultural breadth, it turns theory into practical tools for designing and delivering micro-credential courses across diverse contexts.

Inclusion

Inclusion is examined through the lens of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and accessible education, emphasizing the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in academic settings and multimodality opportunities. A case study on higher education highlights inclusive practices, such as accommodation for students with disabilities and multilingual support.

Well - being

Well-being is explored as a key factor in academic success, drawing on frameworks like PERMA, which connects positive emotions, engagement, relationships, meaning, and achievement to student outcomes. Interventions such as mindfulness training and mental health support systems are discussed as strategies to enhance resilience and emotional stability in educational contexts.

Affect

Affect plays a crucial role in learning by shaping cognitive and social processes. Research on emotions in education highlights both their positive and negative impacts , with a focus on mitigating anxiety and frustration through effective instructional design.

Objectives

1

To co-develop a micro-credential methodological framework at the service of sustainable education for the academics within CIVIS networks, to be used and integrated into the study programs

2

Increase awareness and engagement among academic staff and students regarding the development and implementation of the framework

3

Introduce and pilot test practical applications and interdisciplinary approaches of the proposed framework with the scope of promoting inclusion, well being and affect, within academic contexts

What is innovative with the INWELL Framework?

The INWELL framework aims to leverage the expertise within the CIVIS Alliance to design micro-credential programs emphasizing the interconnectedness of affect, inclusion, well-being, and culture in sustainable education.
